First Annual MPSRC Golf Marathon Fundraiser
The first annual Monterey Peninsula Sunrise Rotary golf marathon was created to raise funds for our club projects and to help support various local charitable organizations. The event was held at Pasadera CC on Monday June 11th, 2007. Member/golfers included:
Ed Holden, Pete Tansill, Richard Griffith, Allen Robinson, Doug Weismann, Joe Mateo, Tom Long, and Duncan Bain. We were able to complete 54 holes in 3 different formats. We had a great support staff of President Sam Griffith, Dennis Fike, and Vicki Nelson. The morning started with Starbucks coffee and Costco muffins at the clubhouse and ended with Heineken beer by the afternoon rounds. We were able to break for lunch and do some team switching to re-energize our efforts. There were some very interesting golf swings by the end of the day and fortunately no injuries were reported. There was a set of keys lost but that’s another story. The team of Joe/Chad finish the final 27 holes in 3 hours. At this time the trio of Doug Weismann, Richard Griffith, and Allen Robinson were just starting their last 9 holes and were completed deflated when they saw us enjoying a cold Heiny. However, they did complete their task without complaint, expect for Richards foot. With everyone finished and the search for lost keys abandoned, we ended up at Tarpeys roadhouse for some good food and fellowship. We raised about $10,000 with each members help and look forward to next year. We should all be thankful to everyone that supported this event. A special thanks to Ed Holden (Mr spreadsheet) and Pete Tansill for their extra efforts. Next year I would only asked that the results be certified by an outside agency. Chad

MPSRC Marathon Golf Fundraiser June 11th
Greetings fellow Golf Marathoners,
Golf at Pasadera Country Club this coming Monday!
We need ASAP to let the Golf Club know the names of who’s playing this coming Monday. Please confirm that you are planning on playing by emailing back or giving me a call at 655-4839.
The plan for Monday morning is as follows:
Everyone should plan to meet at Pasadera Country Club at 7am (call me if you need directions).
We will have Muffins, coffee, juice and fruit in the morning to get our blood sugar level up and ready to play 54 holes.
Golf carts are included in the $125.00 golf fee.
We’ll go over the course rules and the format for the day while eating our muffins.
We plan to break for lunch as a group around noon time.
And when (or should I say “IF”) we reach 54 holes, we will have reached our goal. Some of you may wish to retire before completing the 54 holes which is not a problem---we just need one group to finish the total holes. The club has also agreed to cover the cost of Advil for everyone!!!
It might be fun to get together for dinner following the event to share stories about the “good, bad and ugly” shots of the day---remember we don’t have to let the facts destroy a good story to participate. The suggestion is to get together for drinks and/or dinner at Tarpy’s Road House which is not too far from Pasadera on hwy 68.
If you have any questions, please give me a call or just email me.
This should be a lot of fun and worthwhile to the charities we are supporting.
Thanks,
Ed
