Hey! This new blog idea is really cool! I want to reinforce DG Don Kremer's remarks about the recent District Conference. This was the sixth one I've attended, and it was certainly the best. I went to the first Rotary Academy (ironically at the same hotel in Visalia). It was a flop. I was the only new Rotarian there and they didn't know what to do, so we stood around in the lobby for a few minutes. That was it. At this DC, 70 people attended the Academy. It was good to see. Don gives a lot of credit to Bob Eurich, as he should. But I am here to tell you that it would not have been nearly so effective with out Don's vision and the hard work he also put into it.

One other comment: If we members don't avail ourselves of the opportunities to get involved with Rotary - and there are plenty of them in our District, then I believe they miss a lot of the point of our outstanding organization. It seems to me that if the membership isn't involved with the life of the organization, then we run the risk of having just a weekly breakfast club.

Anyone care to comment?

Sam

i would agree 100%. I would like to thank Yavuz for getting this going much sooner than i anticipated and i think we can use this as a forum for getting more involvement and comments from the membership

My confession: This is the first time I've used a blog. I would welcome some basic instructions! Perhaps Yavuz could do an overhead and walk us nubies through the process.

For example, I had typed out a nice comment to Sam's blog and it would take it unless I had a Google Account username and password. When I signed up for it, I lost my blog. Oh well!

I hope this gets attached to Sam's earlier comment. Sam, I totally agree with your comment about involvement. It would be nice to hear from the past Presidents about how we can have more involvement by all.

Sam, as a soon to be past President, I hope you continue to be active and involved and hope that you continue to be a leader in the club in the coming years! You've done a great job this past year.
